Every few years we hear about how gold is the place to be in a volatile market. It can help during times of global conflict. It can be a safe haven when countries print too much money. It can pay dividends to share holders. It can build exciting new products. OK, obviously these statements aren't true. Gold is a precious metal. If the price is high, there will be a push to mine more. While it can increase in value at different points in time, it can be very tricky to determine what the factors are that provide a favorable environment for gold.
